Sapurji: Sanguinetti shines in Brampton
Caught some of the game between the Mississauga Majors and Brampton Battalion this afternoon. And once again Bobby Sanguinetti stole the show with a four goal performance in a 7-1 Battalion victory. The blueliner added an assist and was a plus three on the afternoon.
...I was lucky enough to interview Sanguinetti last week for a story which ran in the Star last Wednesday. We talked about the season he’s having and he mentioned that even he was a little surprised at how well he’s adapted to his new teammates after three seasons in Owen Sound.
"(Sanguinetti) brings a lot of stability to our defence because we didn't have a lot of experience back there," Brampton coach Stan Butler told the Star last week. "He understands what it's all about having signed an NHL contract (with the New York Rangers), so he can give a lot of the young guys some guidance."
You can check out the story here.
John Hughes, Thomas Stajan and Cody Hodgson also scored for the Battalion (11-6-1-2).
Matt Piva was the lone scorer for the Majors who fall to 7-10-0-1. Rookie goaltender Anthony Grieco was in net for the Majors and finished with 24 saves before being replaced by OA netminder Wayne Savage for the third period. With Grieco’s arrival it seems like the writing might be on the wall for Savage, once injured goaltender Chris Carrozzi comes back from his knee injury.
When asked about a trade sooner rather than later, Savage told the Mississauga News: “Probably.”
“It’s tough on the nerves knowing that it’s likely going to happen but it’s part of the game. It’s really a numbers game.”
OHL NOTEBOOK: The Star has decided to bring back the OHL notebook this year much to the joy of... um... well, probably just me. It’s going to be much smaller than in the past, with more focus on teams and players from the GTA. I’m looking forward to it and hopefully the space in the paper is available – since that’s the bottom line for whether the notebook runs.
NOTE: Dear OHL PR people... on the off chance you are one of the three people who read my blog, if you have any good story ideas or players who you feel would be of interest to our readers -- pass them along.
THANKSGIVING PART DEUX: I’ll be heading back to the Glorious South next week to celebrate American Thanksgiving so my blogs might be sporadic and even stranger than usual. I’m gone for two weeks and am hoping to maybe catch an ECHL or SPHL game while I’m in the ATL or in Knoxville.
I’m almost positive something crazy will happen because, well it always does. So stay tuned.

Also Sunaya, any predictions on where Tregunna, Simmonds and maybe Emmerton end up.
