Doyle: Greyhounds re-sign GM Torrie for 3 years
The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and General Manager Dave Torrie have come to an agreement on a new three-year contract.
...The new deal takes Torrie through the 2010-11 season. The Hounds have posted 173 wins and 131 losses in 340 games with Torrie as GM.
"We are very proud of the Greyhound organization and Dave has become an integral part of it," said Greyhounds President Dr. Lou Lukenda in a team release. "We are looking forward to Dave continuing to provide our fans, incidentally the best in the OHL, with good and entertaining hockey for the next 3 years."
"I’m certainly pleased to reach an agreement to continue my General Manager duties for the next three seasons," added Torrie. "I’d like to thank Dr. Lou Lukenda and the rest of the Board of Directors for their past support and their continued confidence in my abilities."
In all but one of his previous five season with the Greyhounds, Torrie has worked with Head Coach Craig Hartsburg. There are some questions as to whether Hartsburg will be back behind the bench next season. The former Greyhounds and NHL defenceman has had conversations with National Hockey League clubs about returning to the NHL coaching ranks.
