Sapurji: Erie finds Spirit-ed defenceman
The Erie Otters didn't waste much time getting to know new Saginaw Spirit GM Todd Watson by announcing a trade today -- less than 24 hours after Watson was promoted to position.
...The Otters picked up defenceman Chris Breen and a fifth round pick in the 2009 OHL draft from Saginaw in exchange for holdout forward Jordan Skellett and a seventh rounder in 2009.
Breen, a 6-foot-7 defender has one assist in six games with the Spirit this season. The 19-year-old has 10 points in 125 career games with Saginaw. So, he not exactly an offensive juggernaut.
But even with a single point, he's been more productive this season than Skellett, who has been at home in London, Ont. awaiting a trade.
In 93 games with the Otters, Skellett has 25 goals and 32 assists for 57 points.
