Doyle: Another weekend in the books...
With the most recent weekend in the OHL now wrapped up, it's time to look at what we've learned in the past 7 days - and beyond.
...* We've learned that the Brampton Battalion have officially staked their claim in the Eastern Conference. An eight-game winning streak has Brampton just four points behind Belleville for top spot.
* If we didn't know already, we've learned the OHL scoring title might be already locked up by the Windsor Spitfires. The only question now might be which of their two sophomore stars will come out on top. Forward Taylor Hall and defenceman Ryan Ellis are tied for the league lead.
* Discipline is once again going to play a key role in some important games this year. London lost their composure at times Thursday night in Windsor. Plymouth took some costly penalties Sunday night in Sarnia.
* Has there ever been a quieter number-two ranked team in the Western Conference than the current edition of the Guelph Storm? You don't hear too much out of Guelph, and they've gone about their season as they do most games - fairly quiet, keep it simple and frustrate the opponents.
* The Kingston Frontenacs are once again in the midst of their unique Sunday in Sault Ste. Marie, Tuesday in Sudbury road trip. This was the trip coach Bruce Cassidy was handed his walking papers on last season. The Fronts have allowed the third-most goals this season and continue to need help on the blueline.
* Just how bad is the Eastern Conference? Only four of ten teams are above the .500 mark this season. Eight of ten in the West are at or above .500.
* Most streaky team in the league so far? Has to be the Kitchener Rangers. They have already had a six-game winning streak and a five-game losing streak that was stretched to winless in six with an OT loss Sunday in Saginaw.
That's all for now...your questions, comments, etc. are always welcome. Drop me an e-mail.

Saginaw is another team totally under the radar. If they could add one or two players they could move up, same with Sarnia. The Sting seem to be better since Spence arrived.
