Doyle: Montgomery back to London? Another deal to come?
According to the American Hockey League website, the London Knights will have defenceman Kevin Montgomery back in the lineup very soon.
...The AHL transactions page has the Colorado Avalanche re-assigning Kevin Montgomery from the Lake Erie Monsters to the London Knights. I'm sure this move is welcomed by the Knights, but it may necessitate a roster move. Montgomery is an overage player and the Knights are already dressing three overagers - Matt Clarke, Scott Aarssen and Jason Guy. November 15 is an important day as all OHL teams must be down to four OA's on the roster by then.
There has been plenty of talk around the OHL of the Knights making a move for a goaltender, with Peterborough's Trevor Cann in their sights. A Cann-Guy swap, with Peterborough picking up other assets in the deal, would solve London's overage issue with Montgomery back in the fold. But the Petes might make better use of a defenceman like Clarke or Aarssen (or even Montgomery) as Jason Missiaen appears ready to take over the number-one role.
