Doyle: Busy night around the OHL
It is like the lightswitch went off and everyone wants to talk OHL Trade Deadline. Phone calls, e-mails, radio interviews.
...Just finished chatting on The Bill Watters Show on AM 640 Toronto with Bill and Greg Brady and then joined Leigh Cunningham on Saginaw Radio to chat about all things trade deadline related. My running joke now is that the way today has gone, I figure if you wait long enough, there will be reports saying sources indicate your favourite team is going to get John Tavares. But I like the fact AM640 gives the OHL and junior hockey in general strong airtime in an NHL, ok, Leafs crazy market like Toronto.
For some of the newer readers, as Sunaya has indicated in her entries as well, what we report here is information we have gathered from people we know and deal with around the OHL. We receive plenty of e-mails from people saying what they have "heard", but unless it's from people we deem credible, and we believe there is some credibility to it - we're not going to print it. This does not mean because we report Team 1 is interested in Player B, it's a done deal. It just means we believe there have been discussions involving that player and that team. You will also notice we'll quite often spell out as much information as we can regarding the information. Whether we're hearing it's happening, believe it's happening, that it is done, etc. And as people around the OHL have told us, and like about us, our names are on what we say. If people don't like it, they know how to find us. Our e-mail address is on every post, many of the people involved know how to reach us by phone or find us at a rink.
Now that the phone interviews are done for now, time to put the ear back to the ground, watch Sweden/Canada, and get ready for my soapbox.
