Sapurji: OHL trade deadline...
So I got some funny emails about my last post regarding the 2000 Barrie Colts. One was from a former player on that team who said that there was some stuff in my recap that even he forgot about.
...There were also a couple texts from a former Mississauga IceDogs forward who said the Don Cherry-coached team from the 2001-02 OHL season should take the prize as the biggest gongshow of the last decade.
"We would get a 4 minute (power play), and our 5 forward unit would stay out for all 4 minutes," said the talented forward.
"(Then) I would have shifts where I would come off after a min and a half and then (Cherry) would leave me out to kill a whole 2 minute penalty," he added.
The fact that team managed to win 11 games that season (11-47-6) is an accomplishment in itself. And while that season was a total, unmitigated disaster, my vote still goes to the Barrie Colts.
COLTS STREAK: The new Colts under the tuteledge of head coach Marty Williamson are putting their 21-game win streak on the line tonight at home against the Kitchener Rangers, who along with the now-defunct Sorel Éperviers hold the longest consecutive win streak in CHL history with 25.

Terry and I will be co-ordinating our efforts this year so it's not a total freakshow like last season when I had two phones, texts and emails all going at the same time.
