Sapurji: Carrozzi stops Western "shenanigans"
KINGSTON, ONT.-- As previously noted one of my favourite words in the English language is the underused "shenanigans."
...Use that word in an interview and I can almost always guarantee that quote will be end up in either the blog, or paper. Mississauga Majors goalie Chris Carrozzi obviously shares my appreciation of the word because he used in our interview after the Western Conference beat out the Eastern Conference 18-15 in the skills competition last night.
Carrozzi -- who said he was scared after not getting any warmup -- did his part to help the East by stopping all nine skaters in the shootout competition, making some really impressive saves.
"I didn't want to get embarrassed, especially with Taylor Hall and (Tyler) Seguin," said the Atlanta Thrashers prospect of facing the Western Conference stars. "I didn't want to be on any sports shows (highlights) because of them."
I asked if he had given Frontenacs goalie Tyler Beskorwany -- who gave up four goals on nine shots-- any advice on the shootout.
"I just told him to stay on his feet because these guys like to pull some shenanigans," said Carrozzi. "Stay on your feet and try to be more patient."
So remember, don't ever try to pull shenanigans on Chris Carrozzi... he'll stop you. Instead you might have to rely on either tomfoolery or hijinks – just sayin.
