London Knights centre Nazem Kadri has been called up on an emergency basis by the Toronto Maple Leafs and will make his NHL debut tonight against the San Jose Sharks....
Toronto's first-round pick in the 2009 NHL draft was needed after Leaf forwards Christian Hanson and Fredrik Sjostrom were apparently felled late this afternoon by food poisoning.
The Leafs' AHL affiliate -- the Toronto Marlies -- are on a western road trip playing back-to-back games against the Abbotsford (B.C.) Heat, making a quick minor league callup impossible for tonight's NHL game.
Kadri, 19, has appeared in 42 games with the Knights this season netting 26 goals and adding 40 assists for 66 points.
He went on a tear in the month of January, collecting points in all but one of the Knights' 11 games: six goals and 19 assists.
