In a move that had been rumoured for months, Mike Futa has stepped down as General Manager of the Owen Sound Attack to accept a position as Co-Director of Amateur Scouting for the Los Angeles Kings.

Futa joined the Attack for the start of the 2002-03 season and hired Mike Stother as head coach. He also helped bring in players like Bobby Ryan, Bobby Sanguinetti and many more.

Guelph Storm GM/Head Coach Dave Barr has been named the coach of Canada's Under-18 team for the summer tournament in August. Former London Knights assistant coach Jacques Beaulieu, who is now head coach with Saint John in the Quebec League, will served as one of the assistants.

VANCOUVER, BC - Congratulations to Ontario Hockey League referee Sean Reid, he has been selected to work the championship game of the 2007 Memorial Cup in Vancouver. This is the first Cup for Reid, who will work alongside WHL ref Kyle Rehman.

VANCOUVER, BC - Oshawa's John Tavares won CHL Player of the Year Saturday here in Vancouver, while London's Patrick Kane picked up rookie of the year to go along with top draft prospect and top scorer. Sudbury Wolves defenceman Jonathan D'Aversa was never selected in an NHL Draft, but it did not stop him from signing an NHL contract. The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that they have signed the 21-year-old blueliner to an entry level contract.

The Plymouth did exactly what many expected heading into the 2007 Ontario Hockey League Playoffs, go out there and win the J. Ross Robertson Cup, winning the league title. They completed the feat with a 3-2 overtime victory Sunday night in Sudbury. James Neal was the OT hero, scoring his 13th goal of the playoffs.

The OHL has thrown the book at London Knights forward Jordan Shine after his slash in the opening game of this year's Western Conference final. Shine was slapped with a match penalty on the play for intent to injure, and the final verdict - a 20 game suspension.

With the four already served, it means Shine will sit the first 16 games of the 2007-08 season.

It appears a deal has been reached that will see the entire OHL Championship Series televised. While the full details are a little sketchy right now, the games will be on the OHL Action Pak, and we would assume many of the local Rogers and Cogeco stations. Schoolcraft College in Plymouth will continue to handle the games at Compuware Sports Arena while it's believed a Rogers Television crew will head to Sudbury.

Game 2 of the series on Sunday will be broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet.

Oshawa Generals sniper John Tavares has been named the 2007 winner of the Red Tilson Award as the OHL's Most Outstanding Player. The Oakville-native picked up 72 goals and 134 points in his second season in the league. He entered the OHL as a 15-year-old after being drafted exceptional player status.

Plymouth Whalers forward Tom Sestito has been suspended for the opening game of the 2007 OHL Championship Series. This comes after being ejected in Game 5 of the Western Final against London. The Columbus draft pick was handed a 5-minute major and game misconduct for boarding on London's Patrick Kane.

The Toronto St. Michael's Majors have gone back to the future. Dave Cameron is back as Head Coach and General Manager.
