Sapurji: 'Hillbillies' head to Belleville...
For those of you who missed the Brampton-Barrie series (if Game 5 was any indication, you didn't miss much), there was a lot of off-ice hubbub after Brampton's website referred to Barrie as "hillbilly" before the Colts ousted the Battalion in five games.
Loosepucks Awards: Spitfires duo capture Coach/GM of the Year
The final votes are in on our first Loosepucks.com Awards. A poll was conducted among over 30 OHL writers and broadcasters to finalize the Loosepucks.com 2007-08 OHL Award Winners. Voting was conducted using first and second place votes, with each worth five and three points respectively. The first categories to be announced -- Coach and GM of the Year -- have both been won by the Windsor Spitfires.
Kitchener/Sarnia series schedule set
The Round 2 schedule between the Kitchener Rangers and the Sarnia Sting has now been set:

Just about every series that could have ended up Thursday night did, leaving OHL fans will a pretty quiet weekend.

The Steven Stamkos show was in full effect Tuesday night at the Sarnia Sports & Entertainment Centre. The expected first overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft scored four goals to pace the Sting to a 5-4 win over Windsor.

As if Mississauga St. Michael's Majors owner Eugene Melnyk didn't have enough problems -- what with his OHL team on the verge of elimination and his NHL Ottawa Senators in the tank -- now the Biovail billionaire has come under fire from both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).

Doyle: Soo at Saginaw cancelled due to ice conditions
Poor ice conditions at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw has forced the cancellation of Game 2 of the OHL Western Conference Quarterfinal series. This has resulted in some scheduling changes moving forward.

The OHL has suspended Brampton Battalion forward Kody Musselman for today's game against the Barrie Colts.

The Windsor Spitfires will have to continue their first round playoff series for the next three games with overage forward Bradley Snetsinger.
