OHL rookie all-stars
The OHL has announced their all-rookie all-star team -- from today's press release.
Sapurji: Sanguinetti signs
Owen Sound defenceman Bob Sanguinetti signed with the New York Rangers along with forward Ryan Hollweg and fellow blueliner Tomas Pock.
Sapurji: IceDogs getting Jack?
Wake me up when the debacle involving the sale and relocation of the Missisauga IceDogs is over. This fiasco will have been a year in the making come June.
Sapurji: And the coach of the year is...
Plymouth Whalers head coach & general manager Mike Vellucci.
Vellucci led the Whalers to top spot in the West Division and a 49-14-2-3 record in the Western Conference.
"I'm shocked and excited at the same time," said Vellucci, who is in his sixth season behind the Whalers bench. "There are so many great coaches in our league."
Sapurji: Cameron 'probable' for Tuesday
Belleville Bulls winger Bryan Cameron has a broken nose, but the good news is there wasn't more serious damage as a result of the check from behind from Oshawa's Brett MacLean.
Sapurji: Belfour's billions for bail?
When I read the story this morning of Ed Belfour's arrest after a scuffle at a Miami bar early this morning I couldn't help but giggle.
Sapurji: Truth hurts Whalers wallet
The Ontario Hockey League announced today that the Plymouth Whalers are to be fined $2500 for "inappropriate public comments" made by coach/GM Mike Vellucci following Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinal.
Sapurji: Sean Avery rude?
No way, Sean Avery has a potty mouth? Say it ain't so!
Apparently two of the New York Islanders Ice Girls -- Kelli Higgins and Chanel Benson -- think otherwise about Mr. Avery and New York Rangers teammate Henrik Lundqvist.
Sapurji: Oilers recall Schremp
Former Mississauga IceDog/London Knights sniper Robbie Schremp has been recalled by the Edmonton Oilers.
Sapurji: That's what I'm talkin' aboot?
One of the boys at work sent this to me today.
The star of this extremely funny short film is Nick Vachon who played for the WHL's Portland Winter Hawks and was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs (241 overall) in 1990.
