Sapurji: A Bastien of strength
It's a good thing this isn't a podcast, because my voice is completely shot after a karaoke outing last night in downtown T.O.
Sapurji: Fave OHL blog shutting down?
A few days ago when I was writing a story about Mississauga St. Michael's Majors forward William Wallen, I had the chance to chat with the Swedish winger for a bit.
Sapurji: Actually a good break for Foote...
It wasn't really as miraculous as it sounds, but it's good news nonetheless for the Guelph Storm and Brandon Foote.
Sapurji: Bad break for Foote
The Guelph Storm will be without the services of goaltender Brandon Foote for the next six to eight weeks.
Sapurji: Fronts game postponed
Made the mistake of getting off the streetcar early to stop at my local Tim Hortons on my way to work. It's very icky outside and my hair is still frozen solid.
Sapurji: OHL coaches hit mark
Here are a few OHL and hockey related stories for this very cold Saturday.
Sapurji: Tough guys debate rules...
Since the OHL's new helmet rules have caused such a stir in the hockey community, I thought it would be interesting to have a few more voices join the discussion for a story in today's Toronto Star.
Sapurji: OHL to announce new helmet rule...
The OHL will announce new rules regarding helmets today at the Top Prospects Game in Oshawa.
Sapurji: The OHL's trail of tears...
Sorry it’s taken a while for me to get back here, but with the non-stop trade action the last few days I needed a little blogging break. I spent yesterday morning driving to Oshawa for the very emotional farewell for former Generals John Tavares and Michael Del Zotto.

The Oshawa Generals have called a press conference for tomorrow at 10 a.m. to presumably make their final tearful Tavares goodbyes in front of the assembled hoards of media.

In another Oshawa move today...
Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors have acquired defenceman David Corrente from the Oshawa Generals in exchange for the Majors third-round draft pick in 2009.
Sapurji: Tavares not finalized yet...
Just got off the phone with London GM Mark Hunter five minutes ago and he said, "We can not confirm (the John Tavares deal) yet because it is not finalized."
Just to clarify for some readers who have sent emails: OHL teams aren't able to consider a deal "finalized" until the league office approves it -- so this deal is likely done on paper, but still pending approval.
More to follow...
Sapurji: Belleville on John Tavares...
Back on the case this morning. A few readers have emailed me asking what Belleville Bulls head coach and GM George Burnett said -- exactly -- yesterday when I asked him about whether they are actively pursuing Oshawa's John Tavares.
Sapurji: OHL tidbits from today...
Well today has been fun, though I'm sure this is only the beginning.
I've had the opportunity to catchup with a lot of people in the OHL over the past couple of days and intend to make more calls tomorrow.
Sapurji: Whalers keeping line in the water...
Here's the latest from the Plymouth Whalers after an interview with Whalers head coach and GM, the always amiable Mike Vellucci.

The Belleville Bulls have acquired fourth-year veteran Luke Pither from the Guelph Storm in exchange for a second round pick in 2010.
Sapurji: RUMOUR update...
Please be patient, I am but one lowly OHL reporter with two phones and a maxed out inbox. [email protected]
Sapurji: Kitchener completes blockbuster

It's about time...

Sapurji: Stop the insanity...
Just when I thought the hype surrounding the John Tavares trade speculation couldn't get any more ridiculous, I made the mistake of tuning in Sportsnet.
Sapurji: OA Bellemore returns to Plymouth
The Plymouth Whalers received a boost today from the AHL's Albany River Rats with the return of veteran defenceman Brett Bellemore.
Sapurji: OHL Rumours... Part II
Since my first post went up there has been some new info passed my way, so thanks OHL celebs.
Sapurji: Tavares NOT Traded
The Oshawa Generals have sent out the following press release to various media outlets:
Sapurji: Latest OHL rumours...

Sapurji: Otters need more cowbell...
I'm not sure if the Erie Otters are fans of Saturday Night Live but their promotion for Saturday night's game against the Kitchener Rangers is one that Will Ferrell would certainly approve of.
Sapurji: YouTube of Messier's goal
A big thank you to a reader from Kingston who uploaded the Jesse Messier goal I blogged about earlier in the week.
