Sapurji: DeSousa to London for Rinaldo
UPDATED WITH BARRIE QUOTES
Chris DeSousa's stay with the Barrie Colts was short.
...The Barrie Colts have flipped DeSousa, along with a conditional third round pick in 2013 in exchange for feisty London forward Zac Rinaldo.
"We got the player we wanted," said Barrie asst. GM Jason Ford. "We were able to get what we needed going forward and London was able to get a good deal out of it as well."
DeSousa was acquired by the Colts Friday in the Alex Pietrangelo deal. But sources told us right after that deal was done that DeSousa's time in Barrie might be short.
It was believed the Colts were looking to re-stock their draft picks by dealing DeSousa, but instead picked up the OHL's penalty minutes leader.
"If you look at the picks we gave up they're a ways away (in 2013 and 2014)," said Ford. "So basically I know it looks like we've given up a lot (of picks) but time is on our side to get them back."
The condition on the pick involved revolves around DeSousa's return as an overage player next season. If the 19-year-old returns for his OA year, the third round pick in 2013 is dropped from the deal -- Barrie keeps the pick and London keeps DeSousa.

Have a Tims on a day like today.
Question, this move with Zac outta here seems strange by Hunter standards. They don't make lateral moves so is Desouza insuance to score goals for bigger names likely on the move.
Or does he even stay in London.
Simon in London
